When we began the HOM Open we were a small tournament of only 40 players and it was easy for us to get lost in the crowd of other golfers at Majestic Oaks Golf Course. Our goal was to make us visible to the course staff and give easy access to meals, golf, carts and range balls for each person at our event without needing to provide special tickets or badges. We chose to go with matching shirts and have done so for the last 25+ years.

Now that the tournament has grown we no longer compete with other players since we occupy the entire course. We feel that the dollars being spent on matching shirts could better be used to further the work being done by the charities we serve. The volunteers will still be in matching shirts to make them easy to spot if you need them.

We understand that this is a big change and hope you will not be offended, but our desire is to be good stewards of the funds that you have put in our care.

I hope, too, that you will see there are advantages to wearing the shirt of your choice - it fits perfectly, matches your outfit, and forwards those extra dollars to charity.

Many of you have saved your shirts from past years and it's heart warming to see you wearing them when you arrive on tournament day. In light of that, I'm throwing out a personal contest and will give a special prize to the person wearing their earliest version of a HOM Open Shirt.

My personal thanks for your understanding. I'm looking forward to seeing you on 8/17/2017.

With warmest regards,

Char Johansen
